This Memorial Day One Resident Looks Back
by Patti Birks
Community News - Editor's Note: In anticipation of Memorial Day, a local resident takes a look back at her multi-generational family and their arrival in Southampton and history in the area.

Most Holy Trinity - Father, Son, Holy Spirit - I adore you profoundly and offer you The Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the Tabernacles of The World, in reparation for the outrages, sacriliges, and indifference by which He Himself is offended. And by the Infinite Merits of His Most Sacred Heart and those of The Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg you the conversion of poor sinners, Amen.

Patricia Birks born on 10/13/50 Navy Day, at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, Maryland to Margaret and the Late Chief Petty Officer William Rogers Birks. Chief Birks survived the Bataan Death March in the Philippines and 3 1/2 years in a Japanese Prisoner of War Camp. After the Bomb was dropped on Hiroshima he came back to the United States and married Margaret at the St. Albans Naval Hospital June 15, 1946 after he was rehabilitated.

I truly owe my whole life to the protection of Our Lady of Fatima and Her Miracle of The Sun.
